Burke Mountain
Although Burke Mountain is technically in Coquitlam, it's the residents of Port Coquitlam who get to enjoy it most. It stretches out along the northern side of PoCo, creating beautiful views from nearly every vantage in the city. I remember staring out the window in a boring chemistry 11 class, feeling sustained by the sight of the mountain and the memories I had of its ravines and waterfalls. I hope we can all exercise our love for Burke Mountain, and that we will temper its development. If Burke Mountain looks like Westwood Plateau anytime soon, I think a lot of us will be very upset...

Burke Mountain and the North Shore Mountains
Beginning at Howe Sound and Horseshoe Bay, the mountains of Vancouver's North Shore run east until Mt Seymour drops down into Indian Arm. Then there's Eagle Mountain, with Port Moody and Coquitlam at its feet, and Westwood Plateau in its lap. Eagle Mountain drops into Coquitlam Lake, then Burke Mountain rises out of the other side. If you continue this eastward path, you'll find Pitt Lake after Burke Mountain, then Golden Ears Mountain. (I'm hazy after this. After Golden Ears there's Stave Lake, then some mountain, then Chehalis Lake, then another mountain, then Harrison Lake?)
