Burke Mountain - Dennett/Munroe Lakes Trail

There is a strenuous hike that runs steeply from Quarry Road to the top of Burke Mountain, where two lovely, swampy little lakes sit amidst thick forest. Munroe Lake and Dennett Lake offer more than enough incentive to climb the grueling Munroe Lake Trail, which climbs past ravines choked with devil's club and (perhaps) ancient secrets of the Pacific Northwest. It's easy to imagine the sasquatch up on this lonely mountaintop, where even modern man seems to have come and gone already, and left it alone for decades.

Directions to Munroe/Dennett Lakes Trail

To get to this hike, drive along Quarry Road in Port Coquitlam for many minutes, past Minnekhada on the right, over a big hill, and over a bridge. After climbing a bit, you'll finally see a small parking area on the left, which might still have a large wooden sign advertising the Munroe Lake Trail.
