Pitt River Fishing

pitt river fishing tripFishing the Upper Pitt River is easily one of the greatest opportunities that fly fishermen can experience in BC. This backcountry is within three hours from downtown Vancouver, and yet its inaccessibilty makes it one of the last good fishing areas in Southwestern BC, if you appreciate throwing out your line without a soul in sight. And the fish are biting. Oh yes. But you can't bite back: the Upper Pitt River is catch-and-release only.

The Upper Pitt River fishing spots offer an excellent selection: large char that are often well over 10 lbs, Dolly Varden from the sea, five species of salmon including strong runs of coho, bull trout, cutthroat, steelhead, and the most beautiful rainbow trout specimens you'll find anywhere, usually floating around the five-pound mark.
