Port Coquitlam 360° views - April18/'07

The City of Port Coquitlam appears to have hired a company to put together a bunch of 360° "virtual tours" from around town. They did a good job! PoCo looks very sunny and community-oriented.

Here's the page with the PoCo 360° views

Photos of Port Coquitlam - Feb17/'07

I found a gallery of PoCo photos by a local named Steve Smith. He has a few really nice pictures in there! My favourites are the ones of Golden Ears. You can also search around his site for other Port Coquitlam pictures, including community events like the PoCo Car Show and the Harvest Festival.

Ancient Stumps on Coast Meridian - Feb03/'07

I remember that if you walked up Coast Meridian past the Hub store, the sidewalk ran past a few old huge stumps, long-rotten. Are they still there? I'll have to check. Beat me to it? Please let me know.

Coast Meridian Overpass Project - Jan15/'07

What an awesome thing! It has always been a major drag to have only two connections between North and South PoCo. I bet the Cat and Fiddle will get a lot more people from NorthSide, and Burger King will be more popular with Mary Hill students! Oh right, the Oxford Burger King's long gone.

More benefits:
  • Better emergency vehicle access
  • It'll be rad to walk across, looking down at the old train yards
  • Lougheed & Shaughnessy intersection should be relieved a little

Leigh Square Community Arts Village - Jan09/'07

Is it me, or is this the first place of its kind in PoCo? Imagine all the great memories that kids are going to have of the place - it's going to be very bright and beautiful, and there will be good smells and live music!

Does anyone know exactly where this is? Is Leigh Square the one behind Dairy Queen? There's a bunch of info about the plans on this page of the City's website.

The Pig Farm - Jan01/'07

Everyone knows about the pig farmer who had a property in PoCo, "The Pig Farm", which has been under intense investigation for several years after allegations that women were being murdered there. While it is a horrifying thing to think about, it is immensely excellent that authorities are starting to investigate the disappearances of prostitutes and drug addicts more seriously. Not only do all people deserve to be safe, but sadistic greaseballs who delight in tormenting women shouldn't get away with it.

It can be interesting to read up on the Pig Farm on the Internet. Here are a couple of resources online:
