Dykes along the Pitt River - Port Coquitlam
Walking the Pitt River Dykes
The dykes built along the Pitt River are a very popular walking / biking destination in Poco. They're broad and lengthy, and level of course, so they afford great cycling and easy walking. The views are stunning, too - there are mountain backdrops and the marshy edges of the Pitt River dotted with old pilings.

The dykes start in Addington Marsh at Minnekhada, then run south, taking a long course inland to follow the DeBoville Slough. They emerge again on the other side of the slough, then continue downriver to the Pitt River Bridge. If you still want to see more dykes, you can cross the bridge and turn north again, and follow the dykes inland along the Alouette River Slough.
Access to the dykes in Port Coquitlam is at the Pitt River Bridge, and at the ends of Dominion, Prairie, Devon, Lincoln (off Devon), Cedar Drive (where it crosses under the power lines) and Oliver Road near Minnekhada Park.
