Widgeon Slough

The fantastically beautiful Widgeon Slough is a popular destination on clear days for casual boaters in their canoes and kayaks. Beginning on the east side of the Pitt River at the south end of Pitt Lake at Grant Narrows, you'll paddle across the river, then enter a protected system of natural canals at the bottom of the Widgeon Valley.

These waterways are a treat, especially for those who don't get out of the city much. Expect to see beaver lodges, deer, waterfowl, and perhaps even elk.

The mountain vistas that surround the Widgeon Slough are enough of a reason to visit this region. Bring a camera and you'll return home with some fine photography.

Power boats are not allowed in the slough, which is a protected area.
